Boldly Go Where All Have Gone Before-The Sting of Death

                                                    Boldly Go Where All Have Gone Before                                                                                                      The Sting of Death

               And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

I retired from my profession of 54 years almost five years ago. That is a reality that seems impossible to me. Yet true. Ah yes,  I was in the radio profession. Ever since I heard my favorite DJ ,now so many years ago,  I knew what I wanted to do. Be part of that which I so much enjoyed listening to. A trip south from Michigan and I ended up in Florida. Which  by the way I didn't like at  first. Thought it was too hot. It was 1980 I found myself on the east coast Titusville Florida. And it was here in Florida on august 24th 1990 that God, to my surprise called me from darkness to light and from death to life.

Some years before God opened my heart to believe, I had a colleague express to me his philosophy of life. It was simply "He who dies with the most toys wins." Gee I thought to myself back then, really? But you're still dead! I thought.  I just left him to his own delusional thinking. I thought that to be  a rather crazy way to sum up a life time goal even back then. Before I was a Christian.

God, life, death what comes next. Yes I did ponder these things sometimes but I was about as far from truth as one could get. I even got into new age for a while. I remember one book I bought where the author talked about a device he had developed for talking with the dead. Yikes. Necromancy.  I trashed that along with the books I had on new age topics I had aquired. Searching for the meaning of life and God in all the wrong places. I wondered if I would end up reciting the lyrics from that 1969 song from Peggy Lee which says, "when that final moment comes, And I'm breathing my last breath, will I say to myself, Is that all there is." Now I know there's so much more.

 I realized those words in my own life and started to question these deeper thoughts of a persons existence. Why is there anything when there should be nothing? What about God, heaven, hell and life after death. Christianity answers those questions and proves it by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We have what He said, what He did and those who were eyewitnesses to His works and claims. (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)  How does one receive God's gift of salvation and everlasting life? By the grace of God through faith and not of yourself. Scripture says it is God the Father who draws one to His Son.  It was that gift of God, not of works, that brought me from the ignorance of this dark and fallen world to rescue this man from the dominion of darkness to the light of the gospel message.

That there is One  Way, One Truth and One Life; His is the only name under heaven by which anyone is brought from darkness of this present evil age  to light of the savior and from death to life.  Jesus Christ the Lord has paid the penalty for our sin. For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. As Jesus Himself said, "Repent and believe the gospel."  For Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. He was buried and He rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Jesus conquered sin and death. And for  all those who believe, repent, trust and obey everlasting life with a citizenship in heaven awaits the redeemed.

In the years up to that faithful day I had started to question things and begin to  understand the world isn't on the right path.  And the people, including myself,  who inhabit planet earth have some serious issues. Something is wrong with us and terribly amiss, defective, sick. The bible refers to it as people are lost and at enmity with God. (Romans 8:1-7) The entire human race are enemies of God. The Apostle Paul describes the human condition with these words: People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,  traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,  having a form of godliness but denying its power. (1 Tim. 3:2-5)  Some recent news headlines bear this and even more out:

A CACKLING Kim Jong-un was snapped grinning like a Cheshire Cat as he unveiled North Korea’s fleet of nuclear-capable rocket launchers (See above picture)......Orlando Police announced (2-24-26) the arrest of a 16-year-old today on a charge of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm in connection with a shooting at a popular Orlando restaurant......                                                         Transgender ex-student Jesse Van Rootselaar, 18, ID’d as transgender ex-student identified as alleged suspect in Canada school mass shooting that left at least 9 dead..... Daytona Beach police said the boy was detained after he used his mother’s gun to threaten a person at a playground. Officials are seeing more instances of children obtaining guns and using them to make threats against others.........                                                Harrowing moment high school hockey players flee for their lives as dad shoots wife and three kids: 'He shot my family.' Transgender dad Robert Dorgan, 56, opened fire at a high school hockey game on Monday, killing ex-wife Rhonda Dorgan, 52, and son Aidan Dorgan, 23. That's  him, ahhh, her, ahhhh, whatever below in picture with son.  Ah, dear old Dad....

You and I are inhabiting a severly sick, twisted and what the bible calls "a lost and sinful world." It's a world that has morphed into calling  wrong right and right wrong..... and it has resulted in damning results... The Bible  tells us in Deuteronomy 22:5 "A woman must not wear men's clothing, and a man must not wear women's clothing, for whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD your God." (And today it's more than just wearing the clothes. There's transgender reassignment surgery, the procedure to modify a person's body to be like what they feel they are. That's right it's all about feelings. Not about the physicality determined by one's DNA.)  The verse in Deut22:5 reflects the cultural and religious norms of ancient Israel, emphasizing the importance of maintaining distinct gender roles and identities. The prohibition is often interpreted as a safeguard against blurring the lines of gender distinction, which was crucial for societal order and religious purity.

This same tradition applied in the New Testament and was expected of the followers of the Son of God. God's called out chosen people are to be Holy as God is Holy. Separate from the sinful antics and actions  of a world blinded by the god of this age, the spirit that works in the sons of disobedience who are by their practices. And blatant disregard of God's created order they are called the  children of God's wrath.

We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,  for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine (1 Tim. 1:9-11)

Throughout God's Word, the Bible,  we see the sad state of affairs that cripple mankinds  relationship to the creator. Works of the flesh that lead us into nefarious acts of wanton iniquity which stain and pollute the relationship that God desires and demands of His people.  It is the Father who draws us to His Son by grace through faith and not of ourselves, it is a gift that God bestows on those He calls His people.

 God the Father draws his people to Christ snatching them from the pit of spiritual darkness of this present evil age. And restores them as citizens of the kingdom of heaven. For every one who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Given a new life in Christ with strenght and guidence by the Holy Spirit to ward off those fiery darts of temptation from the prince of the power of the air. The spirit that works in the sons of disobedience; the adversary of God who prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devor.

   Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators,( sexual immorality--any sex outside the marriage bond of a male and female)  nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,  nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. (1 Cor. 6:9-10)

Human beings matter to God. So much that God fore-ordained before the foundation of the world  a way for humankind to be delivered from their fallen state of sin. (Mark 1:15;Romans 10:9-10) And be  declared righteous by the only name under heaven  by which anyone is saved from the wrath of God to come. God's very nature forbids the presence of sin in His everlasting kingdom. Sin is an affront to our Perfect, Holy, Righteous Creator God. God hates the wicked (Ps. 11:5; Proverbs 15:9) .....So in His love He sent His Son, the Word became flesh, shared in our humanity so that by Jesus Christ's death, He might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is...the devil—  and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. (Heb. 2:14-15)   For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:17) That is the love of God. For He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Jesus Himself tells us to repent and believe the gospel.  But we are in a war...A war of Good verses  Evil...but people love darkness rather than light. (John 3:19)

Sexual immorality assaults  our eyes, ears and minds from a variety of sources. Television, (example: there was actually a documentary on cable about 2 straight young men, 20 and 26,  becoming Gay Porn stars. It was how they were making a living. It was according to them just a job. Their live in girlfriends approving of this occuptation and supporting them in it. Knowing full well what their partners were involved in. One couple even had young children. This so called practice was the main reason why God rained down His wrath on Sodom and Gomorrah. (Genesis 19) The program seemed to attempt to legitimize, what the Bible calls a debased pursuit,  as a vocation any young man should consider. God thinks othewise. "As as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire." (Jude 1:7) The young men featured in this program rationalized their profession (so called) as just a job, a great the way to make a living to provide for their families.

Movies as well can be an influence of how we preceive certain acts or practices. We can become desenitized by it and rationlize a so called live and let live attitude.  Conviction in ones heart to sin can become blurred or removed completely. (referred to in scripture as the hardening of ones heart) wrong becomes right. What is righrt becomes wrong. As for the internet. You don't need me to tell you how you can find everything and anything your heart desires online. It's a very deep cesspool of vile wickedness. Offering  all sorts of ungodly images, practices and lifestyles prominently displayed to capture and titillate in order to draw its viewers further away from the life that God desires and demands from His people.

Yet I must add that the internet when used properly can be a great help in one's study on on a variety of topics that are viable in one's life. It it the library at one's fingertips. Including topics related to God, Jesus Christ and other Biblical topics of study. I am not saying we will be perfect, but we must be cautious when surfing the world wide web. Jesus gives us sound advice in Matthew 26:41 when he says," Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”  Do not entertain sin. But be We must be discerning and cautious when surfing the world wide web.

Jesus Christ Himself teaches us that our goal, our desire in life as His people should be to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strenght. To walk worthy of the call you have recieved. (Eph. 4:1;Col. 1:10)  The apostle James tells us we should keep outselves from being polluted by the world. (James 1:27) For we are in a war. Your adversary the devil (satan) is relentless in His desire to foil the actions of God's children.  How do followers of Jesus Christ resist the fiery arrows of the wicked one? We are to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  See *See Ephesian 6:14-18)*

With all the blatent sinful practices that attack and insult our minds everyday through various media you might ask "where is God in all this?" Why does God allow evil things to exisit in the world? Why? Because mankind wanted it so. The draw to our first parents "will will be liken God"  caused them to questyion God's command. Any of us would have done the same thing. There also comes a time when God will give an individual, a people, or a nation over to their own evil desires. They become desenitized to evil.  Those who deny God's truth and want nothing to do with the God of the Bible. God will then withdraw from your life and give you over to your own wicked, evil, perverse, fallen nature. Examples of this in the Garden of Eden and during the flood. What about us today?

 We're a nation that seems to be evenly divided about what is right and what is wrong. For a vast majority God is far from the minds of those in this nation.  They don't want to believe in a righteous, Holy  God who will judge their actions. In fact many have become so desensitized and jaded to what God calls sin that literally anything is seen as perfectly legitimized and excepted as normal practice. The words Judging and Judgement are taboo in many circles today. Including the health club I work out at. They have what they label no judgement zones.  I have found that people will find  or design a god more to their liking. A god that allows them to practice or continue in what the God of the Bible calls Sin. Sin? Yes sin. What exactly is sin?

In the Bible, sin is defined as any action, thought, or attitude that violates God's law and character. It encompasses both specific acts of disobedience, such as lying or stealing, and the condition of the heart, including attitudes like pride and selfishness. Sin is fundamentally a rebellion against God's holiness and righteousness, and it separates humanity from God. The concept of sin is central to the Christian understanding of human nature and the need for redemption, with its origins traced back to Adam and Eve's disobedience in the Garden of Eden. (Bibical Thoughts for Biblical Living)

Sin is shameless disregard for God's truth and utter distain for His commands. There are those who deny God's existence completely or water down His word to create  a soft cuddly god that helps sooth their minds to not only approve of what they or others are doing but to allow them to  practice the same things.(Romans 1:18-32) Birds of a feather stick together theology. Evil it isn't and if anyone tells them otherwise. They make a scene, scream, holler, chastise and belittle those who disapprove of their lifestyle accusing them of  being narrow minded, old fashioned. Yet Christians who know and believe the Bible can not approve what God calls "evil" in this world.

 And Jesus said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man.  For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,  thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.  All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”  (Mark 7:21)

In the New Testament of our Bibles, the Apostle's were Holy men of God who spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. (2Peter 1:21)  They expounded on what is wrong with people who don't believe the One True and Only God. That they suppress the truth in unrighteousness. For they are dead in their trespasses and sins. They want to commit ungodly acts because they revel in the pleasures of this world, the cravings of sinful mankind, the lust of the eyes and the boasting in the pride of life. Craving, lust and boasting orginate not in the Father but in the world. That is, from the devil.

Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,  that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.  In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.  They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. (1 Peter 4:1-5)

God has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained.(Jesus)  He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” (Acts 17:31)

The apostle Paul tells us that the  devil, the god of this age, has blinded the minds of unbelievers so that they can not see the light of the gospel of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. They do not believe because they can not believe.  They do not believe because they don't want to believe. For they are slaves to their sinful passions and desires. (Romans 6) So they doubt God exists or has commanded anything.  For our enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8) For as a person thinks so they are. We all have a battle in this life against the world, the flesh and the devil. It is a three pronged attack. Pursue evil and evil will oblige you. And eventually enslave you to its deceiving grip.  In many cases to a deadly conclusion.

The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. (1John 5:19) What does this mean? One commentator on this verse John Gil (1697-1771) says it so succinctly; "that is, the men of the world, the greater part of the inhabitants of it, who are as they were when they came into it, not being born of God; these are addicted to sin and, wickedness; the bias of their minds is to it, they are set upon it, and give themselves up to it, are immersed in it, and are under the power of it: or "in the wicked one"; Satan, the god of this world; they are under his influence, and led according to his will, and they are governed by him, and are at his beck and command; and this is known, by sad experience, it is easy of observation.

 Everyone, you, me, our neighbors, everyone is not inclined to what is good or right in the sight of a Holy and Righteous God..... We are not sinners (in rebellion to God) because we sin....we sin (are in rebellion to God) because we are sinners; We are born that way. (Psa. 51:5;Rom. 5:12)  We are all born with our hearts (inward being, our souls) in opposition to the God who gave us life. We are at enmity with God (Romans 8:7) Dead in our trespasses and sins, following the course of this world, the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that works in the sons of disobedience and are, BY NATURE, children of God's wrath. (Eph. 2:1-5)

 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased (reprobate) mind, to do those things which are not fitting;  being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers (gossips),  backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,  (Romans 1:28-31)

It all  all goes back to the first created human beings who were told something by God. But they choose to believe the lie of the evil one  himself who told them they would not die but would be like God,  if they disobeyed God and rather listen to the words of God's adversary, the devil. They choose that they wanted to be like God, that they would disobey God's word and thus the result was death. For their disobedience to God, God subjected all things to futility. Spirtual blindness and physical decay.

For the Christian it is a battle for what is right and what is wrong. Scripture tells us in Gal. 5:19-21" "Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, (any sexual activity outside the marriage bond of a man and women) uncleanness, lewdness,  idolatry, (anything that takes the place of the one true God, often leading to spiritual and moral corruption ) sorcery, (from where we get out english word Pharmacy-drugs used in incantations) hatred, contentions, (conflicts, disputes, or quarrels among people, often arising from pride, selfishness, or unresolved grievances)  jealousies, outbursts of wrath, (which many times  lead to murder)  selfish ambitions, (pride and haughtiness, which can lead to destruction and downfall). dissensions, (disagreements or conflicts that cause division among individuals or groups). heresies, (a teaching or belief that deviates from established, essential doctrine and creates division among believers.) envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like;  of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

As you can see, read or watch in our oversaturated world of television, radio, films and internet news sources today these sins are revealed and practiced being  rampant, prominent and for its victims deathly. People want to be what they want to be and  do what they want to do no no matter what the consequence of their actions end result will be. They don't think about that. As we have seen in the last few weeks there were those who denied the body God gave them and decided in their own evil. wicked. corrupt and fallen  hearts and minds they were or wanted to be something they were never physically capable of being. This resulted in a terrible display of anger resulting in many deaths even among those who were family members. Plus also resulted in the the suicide of the perpetrators of these brutal and  murderous acts. (Most of all, this was an evil rebellion against their creator. Who designed them from conception to be the gender they were born with.) Scripture promises that the wages of sin is death. And that was the wage that befell the unsuspecting victims and culprit of these crimes.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, that they will also reap. (Gal. 6:7)

The wages of sin is death.

so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. (Heb. 9:27-28)

Mankind's Home

Have you ever just stopped to think about this. About the earth and how beautiful and special and unique this planet is. About all the life that lives, breathes and has their being on this tiny blue marble of a planet called the earth. A planet that somehow was spared the blackness, darkness, cold, death of the vaccuum of space to become a thriving, world teeming with life. A planet with all the necessary elements coming together for life as we know it to exist.  About who we are and what many do, attempt to do and want to do. Mankind is at the same time curious, adventurous and brave but is also stubborn, foolish, self centered, violent and egotistically antagonistic. Endeavoring to get for themselves anything and everything they can.

There are those leading governments whose soul desire is to subjugate and oppress the masses to be subservient to their every command. In order to gain for themselves noterity, prestige,  but most of all Power, Wealth  and Control of those they believe inferior to their self important ways.  This culminates to their desiring obeisance from those they deem unimportant and inferior pawns to be led about on their leash to accomplish their own lofty goals and ambitions. They are those who use others to the benefit of their own selfish whims, intents and pleasures.  Suppressing, controlling, manipulating these sheeple to be ruled as such. And if they refuse are  persecuited, incarcerated or even killed as a final solution to the despots resort.

Good example now is the country of Iran, whose people want their freedom. These mass demonstrators  mowed down in the streets by the ruling dictators. Over 30 thousand  killed because of their blantant disobedience to the laws of the  suppressive and vicious religion of Islam. These leaders following  the cruel and brutal ideology which is the true Isalmic belief. They destroy any and all of the so called infidels  according to the ruling class Imans. And therefore those who protest  must be eliminated in the cruelest, complete and quickest way possible. Death to the infidel.

And we want to export other corosive, wicked, enslaving and murderous religious and political institutions such as Islam, Communisim and Fascism. And all the other ism's to other lifeless, hostile, worlds in our own solar system and beyond? Establish colonies on the moon and mars.  I wonder how long it would take before we'd be waging war against each other on those planets? Sounds like a definition of insanity to me.  Though lifeless and hostile do describe what they are about and how they govern. So just maybe it seems rather ironic this be appropiate that they inhabit and perish on such lifeless domiciles.

Blast mankind into the vaccuum of the cold, breathless and darkness of uninhabitble space. Where if help is needed it would be too far from the home planet to be achieved.  Where the human body was never intended or equipped to survive.  A perfect example recently the quick return of the crew from the space station when one required immediate medical attention not available on the ISS. Space is unforgiving to the human species. To everything that lives and breathes and has a being on this planet.

 Examples include the fact that blood and other bodily fluids may settle in the upper body and head, causing "moon face" or nasal congestion. muscle and bone loss..... Astronauts can lose up to 1-2% of bone mass per month in space, primarily in weight-bearing areas like the spine, hips, and legs..... Where Vision is affected as some astronauts reported blurry vision after long-duration spaceflights, thought to be caused by increased pressure on the optic nerve due to fluid redistribution..... Cardiovascular changes such as changes in blood circulation that can affect overall cardiovascular fitness..... And psychological challenges such as the isolation and confinement which  can lead to psychological stress, making mental health a concern for long-term missions. These changes highlight the need for astronauts to engage in regular exercise to counteract the effects of weightlessness and maintain their health during space missions.

I am a big sci-fi fan. I read sci-fi novels as a kid. One of my favorites "Red Planet"  by Robert Heinlein. I was with that kid roaming the canals on Mars. With his strange looking martian pet. I watched Rocky Jones Space Ranger every saturday morning.  Star Trek was never missed by this guy. I even liked Lost in Space , including the movie. Yet voyger 1 has discovered some very unsettling facts that have surprised scientists.

The fact that intense plasma waves and cosmic radiation  as it leaves our solar system has revealed that the edge of our solar system is neither peaceful nor tranquil. It's a battleground in space. Intense plasma waves. A stormy borderland with magnetic tempests, radiation flares and cosmic rays tens of thousands stronger than anything within the heliosphere.  More cosmic radiation would have grave effects for space exploration. And it appears space is much more hostile than anyone ever realized.

I'm reminded of the Bible verse in Isaiah 45:18 which says:

For thus says the Lord,

Who created the heavens,

Who is God,

Who formed the earth and made it,

Who has established it,

Who did not create it in vain,

Who formed it to be inhabited:

“I am the Lord, and there is no other.

                                                                                                    arrow points to the earth

Space was never intended to be occupied by mankind. Oh we can wrap ourselves into big heavy life supporting suits that allow us to venture into space.  That  protect and enable us to survive with devices that keep us alive. But as mankind travels beyond our atmosphere which has been provided for creatures such as  ourselves. We learn more and more about the absolute dangers that lurk for us in the endless darkness and vaccuum of space. We begin to realize that this tiny blue marble in this vast lifeless universe is far more special than anyone ever realized. And that the God who spoke it all out. The God who sustains all life on this rare and unique minuscule dot in the vastness of space. That this rotating sperical planet called the earth itself is God's  most  precious and valuable jewel to the One who has created all things.

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)

 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend (overcome) it. (John 1:1-5)

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! (Romans 11:33)

Psalm 49 Redemption the Gift of God

 1 Hear this, all peoples; Give ear, all inhabitants of the world,

2 Both low and high, Rich and poor together.

3 My mouth shall speak wisdom, And the meditation of my heart shall give understanding.

 5 Why should I fear in the days of evil, When the iniquity at my heels surrounds me?

("the days of evil" one writes the days of old age, as they are called, ( Ecclesiastes 12:1 ) , which bring on diseases, weakness, and death; yet the one who trusts in the Messiah, Jesus Christ is the only name who delivers one from death: days of evil could also be referring to the second death where the wicked are cast into the lake of fire:(AD)

 6 Those who trust in their wealth And boast in the multitude of their riches,                                   (
Jesus told the people Do not work for food which perishes but for food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you...John 6:27)  Our hearts and minds should be focused on what is eternal: To trust and obey. Set your heart on things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.  Set your mind on things above, not on esrthly things   For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.  Col. 3:1-4)

                                                                                                                                                                      7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him--

 8 For the redemption of their souls is costly, And it shall cease forever--

(The only price of redemption of the soul is the precious blood of Christ; his life is the ransom price, yea, he himself, ( 1 Peter 1:18 1 Peter 1:19 ) ( Matthew 20:28 ) ( 1 Timothy 2:6 ) ; nor is the redemption of the soul possible upon any other ground; JG)

9 That he should continue to live eternally, And not see the Pit.

(the grave or hell eternally absent from the presence of the Lord and Glory of His power) and though the wicked man in old age has reason to be afraid of death and eternity at hand, the saint has not; but may sing, on the borders of the grave, "O death! where is thy sting?"   Also days in which iniquity abounds, and error and heresy prevail, are days of evil; Yet the righteous man need not fear; the day of death, and the day of judgment are days of evil to wicked men; and therefore they put them away far from them, ( Amos 6:3 ); but believers have reason to rejoice at them, the day of their death being better than the day of their birth; and the day of judgment will be the time of the glorious appearing of Christ to them. (JG)

10 For he sees wise men die; Likewise the fool and the senseless person perish, And leave their wealth to others.
(The thought is that death shall never consume them. They refuse discussion of the topic. Yet death stalks like a ravenous beast. Unknown, avoided until death sinks its teeth into its unsuspecting prey.  Most who pass from life without anyone knowing or caring. But God knows. God cares. And desires all to come to repentance and believe in the only name under heaven by which anyone is saved from death to life. From darkness to light. The light of Jesus Christ. Who came to save His people from their sins. All the Old Testament animal sacrifices pointing to that day when the perfect redeemer of humanity shall come:(AD)

He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;

He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray;

We have turned, every one, to his own way;

And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. (Is. 53:6-7 written over 700 years before the birth of Jesus Christ)

11 Their inner thought is that their houses will last forever, Their dwelling places to all generations; They call their lands after their own names.

Yet they shall hear "this very night your life shall be demanded of you." (Luke 12:20)

 And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples  and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:  The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.  And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”  (Luke 7:22-23)

12 Nevertheless man, though in honor, does not remain; He is like the beasts that perish.

 (and when they die, they perish like the beasts; as they are like them in life, stupid, brutish, and ignorant, so in death; as the beast dies, so do they.  It is worse with them than with the beasts, since after death comes judgment, and after that the second death, the wrath of God.) (JG)

13 This is the way of those who are foolish, And of their posterity who approve their sayings. Selah

(They listen to and follow worldly wisdom. A widom that can not keep one from the eternal flames of God's wrath. God's people are not to venerate the things of this world which are the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and boasting of what we say and do.  God's promised redeemer has come. He healed the sick, raised the dead. Those who have the Son have life. Those who have not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abide on them. (AD)

14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; Death shall feed on them; The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; And their beauty shall be consumed in the grave, far from their dwelling.

(this should be understood of "hell" , which will be the everlasting mansion of wicked men, and in which they will be punished in soul and body for ever; JG)

15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, For He shall receive me. Selah

 (such whom Christ receives by his grace, he will redeem from the grave, or raise at the last day to the resurrection of life: or, "for he will receive me"; as he does the souls of his people to glory at death, when, during their separate state, they will be happy with him, and takes their bodies into his care and custody; from whence it may be strongly concluded he will raise them up again at the resurrection morn, and then will receive them soul and body to himself, and present them to his Father, and introduce them into his kingdom and glory; (JG)

16 Do not be afraid when one becomes rich, When the glory of his house is increased;

(men are apt to glory in them, and for the most part obtain honour and glory from men by them; but beware for riches can not save one unto eternal life; to be truly rich one one must receive by God's grace the gift of salvation. The desire to repent, confess, believe in who Jesus was/is/forever will be. The Word who was in the beginning with God and was God. The Word who became flesh, lived the perfect sinless life that fallen sinful mankind can not. That we too may have Jesus righteousness imputed to us.  By grace through faith, a gift from God not of works. To be given  citzenship in heaven; born again not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13)AD

17 For when he dies he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.

The old adage you can't take it will you is absolutely correct.  The things of this world unreachable to the dead. Everything a person has worked for, earned, saved for, strived for  out of their reach when they die.

(either into the grave, the pit of corruption, the lower part of the earth, where kings, princes, counsellors, and peasants, are all alike, ( Job 3:14 Job 3:15 Job 3:19 ) ; or into hell, where are no titles of honour, nor respect of persons; no Pharaoh king of Egypt, or Sennacherib king of Assyria, there; but plain Pharaoh see ( Ezekiel 32:31 Ezekiel 32:32 ) JG.

8 Though while he lives he blesses himself (For men will praise you when you do well for yourself),

19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers; They shall never see light.

20 A man who is in honor, yet does not understand,

(where from his riches and honour, come, and what use he should make of them, and for what end he has them; or that understands not spiritual things, which relate to the salvation of his soul; who does not know God in Christ, nor the way of salvation by Christ; nor has any experience of the work of the Spirit of God upon his soul; nor has any spiritual understanding of the doctrines of the Gospel; nor knows himself, his state and condition, and what true happiness is:

Is like the beasts that perish.

Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth? (Ecc. 3:21 NKJV)

if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.  For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13)

In The Beginning--God

                                       In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.                                                                                                                       Genesis 1:1

There was at one time (yet time did not exist--eternity-everlasting is unfamilar to time--time has no teeth to ravage, decay and destroy--time does not inhabit eternity) time is used in the sense to establish some reference point to our physical reality. There was no beginning until God-- everlasting-eternal, was always and forever will be-Father, Son, Holy Spirit--spoke it into existence. John chapter 1 says "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him. Through the eternal Word creation came to be.  Jesus the eternal Son spoke it out, "Then God said,  let there be" and thus all that is in the universe was brought forth into existence.

Where once nothingness....now the substance that defines a material creation burst forth into existence as God the Son spoke it into being. Light, oceans, grass, fruit, firmament, planets, stars, solar systems, creatures, and mankind from the dust of the earth.  Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.

We do know that God created the angels before He created the physical universe.  The book of Job describes the angels worshiping God as He was creating the world. We also know that angels existed prior to the garden of Eden, because Satan, who was formerly the angel Lucifer, was already present in the garden in his fallen state. (Job. 38:4-7;1:6; 2:1)

Angels were created  to worship God around His throne (Revelation 5:11–14), they may have been in existence millions of years—as we reckon time—before God created the world, worshiping Him and serving Him. We know before this material time functioning physical universe was formed Jesus existed eternally. For "He is the image of the invisible God,  the firstborn over all creation.  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.  And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.  And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence....He made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. (1 Col. 1:15-17;Phil. 2:7-8)

Mankind forfeited his right to everlasting life when He disobeyed God and believed the lie of the serpent (satan, the devil) rather than believe God. "the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;  but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” (Gen. 2:16-17) They believed the lie of the serpent that they would not die, a contradiction of God's warning to them. Mankind chose to believe the lie and die they did with all their progeny following in their footsteps, (Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— Romans 5:12--for God For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; Rom. 8:20)

The world we inhabit today is tainted (contaminated, polluted),  corrupt, sinful (inclined toward doing evil) selfish, vile, perverted, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron;  lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,  traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.(1 Tim. 4; 2 Tim 3)  The human condition is at enmity with God, following the course of this world; the cravings of sinful man, the lust of the eyes and boasting of what we have and do; as they run with the prince of the power of the air the spirit that works in the sons of disobedience and are BY NATURE CHILDREN OF GOD'S WRATH!

 Everyone is not in the sight of a Holy, Righteous, Perfect God,  born basically good. We are all born with a trigger ready to be pulled into the nature of who we are. Born disposed to fulfill the lust of the flesh and of the mind. Sin has corrupted all of mankind, from conception, with a nature inclined to what is evil in the sight of God.

Yet by the gace of God through faith, and not of ourselves, we are brought from darkness to light, from death to life. By grace through faith and not of ourselves--a gift of God. For the unregenerative nature of mankind is loathe of the God of the bible.  "Because the carnal mind is enmity (Hostile)against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. (Romans 8:7)

But  God has provided a way out of  this seemly tragic and hopeless situation. A Blessed Hope. (Titus 2:13) The Way, the Truth and the Life has come into time and space taking the very form of a bondservant--a slave. God the Son took on a human nature and tabernacled in a body of flesh, blood and bones. Therefore, we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Heb. 4:15) The Word who was in the beginning with God and was God became flesh. Jesus dwelt among the race of fallen mankind. He lived that perfect life God demands. And that no one can obtain on their own.

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.  And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me? But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.  And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!” (Matt. 3:13-17; Luke 9:35)

Jesus Christ--the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. The only name under heaven that can deliver one from the clutches of eternal damnation. Absent from the presence of God and the glory of His power. Into the promise of being rescued from the dominion of spiritual darkness and brought into the kingdom of the Son of His love. In whom we have redemption, through His blood,  the forgiveness of sins. For scripture tells us without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Therefore God made Him (Jesus) to be a sin offering for us, so that in Him we may become the righteousness of God. (2 Cor. 5:21)

Jesus Christ tells us you must be perfect as the Father in heaven is perfect. (Matt. 5:48) In order to obtain  everlasting life. (No one is or could ever be perfect in and of themselves. It is not humanly possible.) There is no one righteous, no not one. (Ps. 14:1-3; Romans 3:10)  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  (The kingdom of God is not aquired by one's good works. For all our righteous acts are as filthy rags. We all shrivel up like a leaf,  And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away. (Is. 64:6)  The sinful nature taints every sinew of our fleshly being. By our very nature we are at enmity (hatred) with the God of the bible.

 Salvation from  humanity's sin cursed blindness to this truth  comes through God's one and Only Son. Each human being must bow to this truth. God does this through the grace of God by faith and not of ourselves. It is a gift of God, not of works lest anyone should boast. God draws us to His Son (John 6:44;65) and saves us not because of the righteous things we have done but according to His mercy. (Tius 3:5)  His is the only name under heaven by which anyone is saved. Those who have the Son have life. (everlasting--a citizenship in heaven) Through Jesus Christ and Him only come God's acceptance; come redemption/forgiveness the rescue from eternal damnation in what Jesus Christ himself says is the lake of fire. Those who believes in the Son have everlasting life; those who do not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36)

Jesus beckons with the words  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matt. 11:28-30) { In Bibical times the yoke ensured that the oxen  worked in tandem, sharing the load equally. This agricultural tool became a powerful metaphor in Scripture, symbolizing various forms of submission, servitude, and partnership.Here, the yoke represents the teachings and lifestyle of Jesus, contrasting with the heavy burdens imposed by the Pharisaic interpretation of the Law. Jesus' yoke is characterized by grace, rest, and a personal relationship with Him.}

When you believe, confess, and repent one crosses over from death to life. From darkness to light. Where once one followed the course of this world, the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that works in the sons of disobedience and were BY NATURE the children of God's wrath. One is brought from the slavery to sin to being a slave (servant) of God.

When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.  What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!  But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:20-23)

You are either a slave to sin and in rebellion against divine law or a slave of God. Jesus replied, ‘Truly, truly, I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.’”Here, the statement underscores that sin is not just a series of bad deeds; it is a condition in which a person is compelled to act against God’s righteousness. This direct teaching of Jesus shows that sin prevents genuine freedom.**

It is a rescue from the guilt and power of sin (Rom. 6::18) from an accusing conscience (Heb. 10:22) from the wrath of God. (Romans 5:1; Heb. 10:27) and the tyranny of satan (2 Tim. 2:26; Heb. 2:14) Freedom from the law: deliverance from the curse which the law pronounces upon the sinner who has been striving--unsuccessfuly, of course--to achieve his own righteousness. But has now, by grace, turned to Christ and salvation in him.***

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." (Gal. 5:1) Slavery to try in our own flesh to keep God's law. When in reality because of our fallen sinful condition it is utterly impossible.  ("there is no one who does good. No not one." Rom. 3:12)

God made him (Jesus)  who had no sin to be sin (offering)  for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Cor. 5:21)

God's plan of salvation seen in the Old Testament and revealed in the New Testament:

But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed. (Is. 53:5OT)

Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.  (Ex. 12:13OT) Sacrifices were made to atone for sins and signify the immense price of salvation. However, these sacrifices also point towards a greater act of redemption, showing us the seriousness of sin and the holiness of God. And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. (Heb. 9:22 NT)

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel: Meaning God with us.(Is. 7:14 OT)

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,

Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,

Yet out of you shall come forth to Me

The One to be Ruler in Israel,

Whose goings forth are from of old,

From everlasting.” (Micah 5:2 OT)

For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Is. 9:6 OT)

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!

Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!

Behold, your King is coming to you;

He is just and having salvation,

Lowly and riding on a donkey,

A colt, the foal of a donkey. (Zech. 9:9 OT fulfilled Mark 11:1-10)

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,

Because the Lord has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; (Is. 61:1 fulfilled Luke 43:17-22)

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:  who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12-13)

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.  For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13)

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth....

"By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast." (Ps. 33:6;9)  " All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made." (John 1:3) "God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.  Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things." (Acts 17:24-25)

The Bible clearly requires us to believe that God created the universe out of nothing. (creation ex nihilo) This means that before God began to create the universe nothing else existed except God Himself. (God did not use any previously existing materials when he created the universe) God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; Romans 4:17 Can also be translated as saying that God calls the things which do not exist as existing.****

Hebrews 11:3  By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

All the mountains, oceans, the stars, the earth itself, all came into existence when God created them. There was a time when they did no exist.

Before the mountains were born

    or you brought forth the whole world,

    from everlasting to everlasting you are God. (Ps. 90:2)

The Bible describes God as eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, loving, just, merciful, gracious, and sovereign over all creation. God is, was and forever will be. God is everlasting, creates all things in heaven and on earth, and in Him all things hold together. (John 1:1-3; Col. 1:15-17)

We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.  For He says:“In an acceptable time I have heard you,And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. (2 Cor. 6:1-2)

Note: Life is short, you probably heard that said. Scripture tells us:

 "For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." (James 4:14)

Oh, remember that my life is a breath! (Job 7:7)

Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths,

And my age is as nothing before You;

Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah (Ps. 39:11)

For my days are consumed like smoke, (Ps. 102:3)

Man is like a breath;

His days are like a passing shadow. (Ps. 144:4)

Scripture tells us there is life after death. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, which Paul declared is much better. For all God's people who have been born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. One  must have His righteousness, His perfection imputed to their account  to spend eternity with God. Those who have the Son of God by grace through faith, have confessed and repented of their sins, trust and obey, have been born from above, regenerated by God's grace, and by His mercy have been born again into the kingdom of God. It's the only option. Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me.

When Jesus returns at His second coming, raptures up His chosen people and regenerates creation there will be a new heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells. All those  without the savior will hear "depart from Me, I never knew you." All those who have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord by the grace of God and His mercy will spend eternity in the New Heavens and new earth. There shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.  They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.  There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever. (Rev. 22:3-5)

The Apostle Peter writes "God is not wanting that any should perish but that all come to repentance."

 If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
