The Day Of The Lord
14 For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and` of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 “Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.”
16 And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.(Rev 16)
3 Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. (Rev 3)
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.(2 Peter 3)
1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matt 24)
And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. (Luke 17)
40 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (luke 12)
The common perception of most of the world is that things will just remain as they are. Life goes on. A generation dies another replaces it. But scripture tells us all of history is moving toward a day when everything will come to a halt. And this isn't the first time God has intervened. In Genesis 6 it says “the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”
Noah found grace with God. Why Noah? Because Noah really believed God. Hebrews 11 tells us “By faith Noah....Noah had a faith that believed God when He said He was going to flood and destroy the earth. And “moved with godly fear,” he built the ark for the saving of his household...by which he condemned the world. And Noah preached by his actions and Jewish tradition tells us He preached with his words that they better prepare, for the world they know will come to an end. The only ones to survive were Noah and seven others. And the creatures God led to the ark.
The world of Noah's time must have thought him a lunatic. The noise of his construction clearly heard and seen by all his neighbors. If there had been a home owners association he would have been seriously reprimanded, fined or probably stoned for his infractions. Then there was the sound of all the animals as they arrived and marched into the ark. There might have even been block parties and barbecues as people stood around making fun of this crazy old man, who insisted that God was going to destroy the earth with water that would come down from heaven. And since it had never rained, Noah's explanation of this event probably brought condemnation from all those who observed his--what they thought--irrational behavior.
7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. (1 Peter 4)
24 For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day. (Luke 17)
Scripture tells us God is not a man that he should lie. That it is impossible for God to lie.”God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”(Numbers 23:19)Where will you stand on that day. On His right or left. A sheep or a goat. Will he say well done good and faithful servant enter into the joy of the Lord or depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels” What God has spoken and holy men of God have written down will come to pass. And each day we are closer to that day. The Day Of The Lord.
1 Come near, you nations, to hear;
And heed, you people!
Let the earth hear, and all that is in it,
The world and all things that come forth from it.
2 For the indignation of the LORD is against all nations,
And His fury against all their armies;
He has utterly destroyed them,
He has given them over to the slaughter.
3 Also their slain shall be thrown out;
Their stench shall rise from their corpses,
And the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4 All the host of heaven shall be dissolved,
And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll;
All their host shall fall down
As the leaf falls from the vine,
And as fruit falling from a fig tree.
5 “ For My sword shall be bathed in heaven;
Indeed it shall come down on Edom,(the gentile nations)
And on the people of My curse, for judgment.
8 For it is the day of the LORD’s vengeance,
The year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
9 Its streams shall be turned into pitch,
And its dust into brimstone;
Its land shall become burning pitch.
10 It shall not be quenched night or day;
Its smoke shall ascend forever.
From generation to generation it shall lie waste;
No one shall pass through it forever and ever. (Is. 34)
God's Word to all who oppose Him; everlasting wrath is coming.
2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood,
And your fingers with iniquity;
Your lips have spoken lies,
Your tongue has muttered perversity.
4 No one calls for justice,
Nor does any plead for truth.
They trust in empty words and speak lies;
They conceive evil and bring forth iniquity.
Their works are works of iniquity,
And the act of violence is in their hands.
7 Their feet run to evil,
And they make haste to shed innocent blood;
Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity;
Wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they have not known,
And there is no justice in their ways;
They have made themselves crooked paths;
Whoever takes that way shall not know peace. (Isaiah 59)
And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” (Rev 14:11)
“The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10)
Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (luke 12)
