So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. (Heb. 9:28)
scoffers will come in the last days...who willfully forget: the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition (destruction) of ungodly men. (see 2 Peter 3:1-6)
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. (Matt. 24:36)
Over the years so called Christian prophets have predicted that Jesus was coming at such and such a time. So far they have all been wrong. (One of the most famous ones The Millerite Movement led by Baptist preacher William Miller in the 19 century. Miller's prophecy of the Second Coming predicted that Jesus Christ would return to earth in 1844. The prophecy failed to deliver, which led to the Great Disappointment. And disappointing nearly 100,000 followers. (the 7th day adventist church had its roots in the Millerite movement in the 1830's and 1840's).
And who can forget Edgar Whisenants "88 Reasons Why The rapture will be in 1988 An American former NASA engineer and Bible Student from Little Rock Arkansas, He predicted the rapture and WORLD WAR 3 would occur during Rosh Hashanah in 1988, sometime between September 11 and September 13. Whisenant was quoted as saying "Only if the Bible is in error am I wrong; and I say that to every preacher in town" and "If there were a king in this country and I could gamble with my life, I would stake my life on Rosh Hashana 88. He died May 16, 2001.
Finally the most recent false perdiction comes from the an American Christian radio broadcaster and evangelisy Harold Camping. Camping first predicted that the Judgement Day would occur on or about September 6, 1994. When it failed to occur, he revised the date to September 29 and then to October 2. In 2005, Camping predicted the Second Coming of Christ to may 21, 2011. Whereupon the saved would be taken up to heaven in the rapture, and that "there would follow five months of fire, brimestone and plagues on Earth, with millions of people dying each day, culminating on October 21, 2011, with the final destruction of the world." Camping died on December 15, 2011 without His prophecy taking place.
If someone you see or hear makes such a perdiction and it doesn't come true know that it isn't from God for as Jesus the Son of God said only God the Father knows the year, month, day and time of His second coming. But Jesus Christ has promised to return and bring forth a new heavens and earth where righteousness dwells. Jesus proclaimed "you must be perfect as the Father in heaven is perfect" to enter into God's kingdom. Only one person was, is and will forever be. He always did the Fathers will. And in Him the Father is well pleased. Confess, repent, trust and obey in His name by grace through faith, and an eternal citizenship in heaven is yours assured. As for Jesus Christ's second coming. Scripture explains how we should be anticipating the Blessed Hope and glorious appearance of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.
Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.....Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.......
Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.....For the Lord will come as a thief in the night..... And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.....
with a shout, the voice of the archangel and the trumpet call of God.....as He comes in flaming fire.....in which the heavens will disappear with a great noise and the elements will melt with fervent heat.....and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that we who are still alive and are left, at the second coming of Jesus Christ, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Therefore comfort one another with these words.....
but the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”.....as the Lord takes vengence on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.....they shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of God and the glory of His power.....
when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.....Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.....

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death".....

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”“It is done! He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.....

And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.
Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”.....
