Now the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded. And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him: “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law; but when in their trouble they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them. And in those times there was no peace to the one who went out, nor to the one who came in, but great turmoil was on all the inhabitants of the lands. So nation was destroyed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every adversity. But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and removed the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which he had taken in the mountains of Ephraim; and he restored the altar of the Lord that was before the vestibule of the Lord. Then he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who dwelt with them from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon, for they came over to him in great numbers from Israel when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.

So they gathered together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa. And they offered to the Lord at that time seven hundred bulls and seven thousand sheep from the spoil they had brought. Then they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all shouting and trumpets and rams’ horns. And all Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought Him with all their soul; and He was found by them, and the Lord gave them rest all around. ( 2 Chonicles 15)
All these things written in the Old Testament of the Bible happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the end of the ages has come.
In the new covenant The Son of God, the Word who Himself was God, made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, (a slave) and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. There was no hesitation. He didn't question His Father. The Father commanded...Jesus obeyed. Never once did the Son of God shy away from His Fathers command though He knew it would end up in His suffering and death on the cross.
Scripture reiterates that Jesus knew what was commanded of Him and the thought of Him deviating from His Fathers promise to the world was never a viable option. Jesus obeyed because as scripture says He always did His Fathers will. Despite having full authority over heaven and earth, Jesus fully submitted to the Father’s authority and obeyed God in everything.
I must be about my Father's Business
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.... For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous...Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered... And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him... But Jesus said, "I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here."... "And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”... “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me." (Phil. 2:8; Rom 5:19;Heb 5:8; Heb.5:9; John 14:31; John 8:29;John 5:30;)
Jesus Says, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” Jesus obeyed that we might have life (now and everlasting in the Kingdom of God) For in this is love not that we loved God but that He (God the Father) loved us and sent His Son to be propitiation (atoning sacrifice) for our Sins. (1 John 4:10) The Old Testament sacrifices were but a shadow of the the ultimate sacrifice that God would offer up when the fullness of time had come. God the Father sent His One and Only Son, born to a virgin, born under the law that He might fulfill the law and the prophets. As scripture foretold:
" Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:
“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But a body You have prepared for Me.
In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come—
In the volume of the book it is written of Me—
To do Your will, O God.’ (Heb. 10:5-7)
Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams. (1 Sam. 15:22)
He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36)
He is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6)
Those sacrifices of the Israelites were but substitutes. When the Son came, He lived a perfect life (because he is God--the Word). God wants us to offer obedient genuine devoted service. God delights in our perfect obedience to His will. Through trusting and obeying in His Son. Jesus the Christ offers just that. He always did the Fathers will and in Jesus Christ we are told by God, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him.
Therefore, in all things He (Jesus the Christ) had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation (atonement) for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Heb 2:17-18 and 4:15)
satan's temptation of Christ Jesus
That is the Gospel that God has promised. Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried, and he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Cor. 15:1-2) Jesus was sent down from heaven, for God so ordained it before the foundation of the world. (1 Peter 1:19-20) He is the Child born , the Son given of Isaiah chapter nine. The One called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. A virgin did concieve through the Holy Spirit and that One was called the Son of God. Being in very nature God, and coming in the likeness of men, humbled Himself as a man and became obedient to death. Even the death of the cross. (Phil. 2:5-10)
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29)
When Adam and Eve trusted in that serpent of Old, the devil, satan, who tempted them with the words, "Has God said, for when you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not die" as God proclaimed. But you shall be like God knowing good and evil. But what the evil one hid from them was that they would know evil from the inside. And that is why they covered their nakedness that they now could see.
For their disobedience God subjected all of creation to futility/vanity/hopelessness and death came into the world. But God's promise was fulfilled when the fullness of time had come. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. For God made Him who had no sin to be a sin offering for us. So that in Him (Jesus) we might become the righteousness (perfection) of God). For as Jesus said, "you must be perfect as the Father in heaven is perfect.
Only One human being was. The God/ man. Only One Son. Only One Way, Only One Truth and Only One Life. No other name by which anyone is saved. Saved from what you might ask.? Saved from the wrath of God to come. Jesus the Christ came, He lived that perfect life. Which no human being born with a corrupt nature can. He died and He rose again from the dead the third day according to the Scripture.
"If you confess with your mouth Jesus Christ is Lord. And believe in your heart that God raised Him from the death you will be saved..." when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power," (Gal. 4:4;John 3:18; 2 Cor. 5:21; Matt 5:48; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Cor. 15:1-3; Rom. 10:9; 2 Thess 1:7-10)
Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. (John 8:32)
For as Jesus Himself proclaimed in the Gospel of John "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." There are many events in our lives that can cause fear to overwhelm and consume us. We may question why these things are happening. And doubt that God is with us and cares about us.
We ask, 'Why would God if He loves me would He let them trouble and inflict my soul. And we plead with God "why me?" There is a purpose and reason in that plan of God. We may not understand it, may even think it is unfair, but "In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, (Eph. 1:11)
Peter tells us, "Christ suffered for us leaving us an example that we should follow in His steps. When He was reviled He did not revile in return. When he suffered He did not threaten but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously." (1 Peter 2:21) God is working in His peoples lives. Those who desire to live Godly lives will, not may, but will suffer persecution. The world's inhabitants don't want to be told there is something wrong with them. That they have transgressed against a Perfect, Holy and Righteous God. They compare themselves with others and think I'm not as bad as so and so. Or I have never done this or that. Yet we are told:
There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
They have all turned aside;
They have together become worthless;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”
Jesus Himself said, You must be perfect as my Father in heaven is perfect to be accepted into the kingdom of God. That perfection is not inherent in us. For all of us are born with that sinful Adamic nature, with the propensity to disobey, to sin. Thus the verse "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) Scripture says "And all our righteous acts are as filthy rags." We need to be made right before God. To be reconciled before God. God the Father has provided His One and only Son as our doorway to that righteousness of God. When we confess with our mouths Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead we are promised we will be saved from the torment of a Christless eternity into everlasting life in the presence of God and the glory of His power.
Jesus Christ is the blessed hope that all of mankind needs. That is a crucial truth to where we will spend eternity. He is the all important Way, offering the promise of everlasting life. God has provided that perfect sacrifical lamb to save His people from their sins. And John the apostle promises that as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. ( Titus 2:13; John 1:28; John 1:12-13) Jesus the Christ says to all His chosen, "Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid." In this life you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer for I have overcome the world. And by your committment to Him and your appropiation of God's gift you are made right with God. As you confess, repent, trust and obey the only name under heaven by which you can be saved. For as the Old Testament prophet promised God's Son will reign on David’s throne, and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.(John 14:1; Is. 9:7)
The only way to everlasting life with God has come. He revealed Himself by his miracles, signs and wonders. He calls out today through His Word for Jesus came to give us life, new life, eternal life, and have it more abundantly. It doesn't matter who you are, where you've been, on what you have done. Jesus cries out to all "Come to me you who labor and are heavey laden and I will give you rest."
Rest from a world steeped in sin that demands your attention and participation. A world consumed by the lust of the flesh and of the mind. That will only bring an emptiness and hopelessness with its end death and a certain fearful expectation of judgement and an eternity absent from the presence of God and the glory of His power. For it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. For God is a consuming fire. (Heb. 9:27;10:22)
When the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. (2 Thess. 1:7-10)
But take courage and be inspired to know this: "In this is love. Not that we loved God but God loved us and sent His Son to be an atoning sacrifce for our sins. For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.
By grace are you saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast...He saves us not because of the righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy...“the Lord is not delaying [the fulfillment of] his promise, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentence.”(1 John 4:10; Heb. 9:22;Col 1:13-14; Eph. 2:8-10; Titus 3:5; 2 Peter:3:9)
If you confess with your mouth Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. You will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
