ONLY ONE IS GOOD

                                                               ONLY ONE IS GOOD

 The mother of the latest mass murderer of 21 including 19 elementary school children, 4th graders, came out and said, "my son was a good person." Excuse me,  but she is absolutely, positively, undeniably wrong. Many of you would agree with me. But know this, none of us is good. That's right any of us is capable of commiting great evil. (Matt 6:22-23) Only One is good.....God.  Jesus that meek and mild savior of the world looked at those crowds following Him and said, "you being evil...." and again reiterated that fact by telling them, "you must be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect."

None of us has ever been, could ever be,  in this sin tainted flesh,  a good person, let alone perfect  in the eyes of a Holy and righteous God. Break just one command of God and the result is an eternal tragedy. Scripture tells us "there is no one righteous, no not one. No one who understands, no one who seeks after God. All together have become worthless. There is no one who does good, not even one." (Romans 3:10-18)

Well so much for self esteem. How does the human race extract themselves from this morbid perdicament? Well, we can't in and by ourselves according to the Bible, God's Word. But not all is hopeless, though. There is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the very Son of God, who was in the beginning with God and was God. (John 1:1-5) He came that we may have life and have it more abundantly. And no one comes to God the Father except through him.

He is referred to as the Blessed Hope. (Titus 2:11-14) A Hope that delivers us from the punishment of everlasting destruction to an eternity in the  presence of God and the glory of His power. As the Apostle Paul, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit proclaimed "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,  who, being in the form of God, (being in very nature God) did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,  but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,  and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Mankind seeks out the answers to the things of this world. Why is there anything when in fact there should be nothing. Scripture says, " By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." (Heb. 11:3) God created  everything, ex nihilo.

That is God spoke everything into existence where nothing existed before.  In the beginning God spoke out this material universe, when God said "let there be...." everything came to be. Before that, absolutely nothing existed, except God.

Why are we here?  St Thomas Aquinas says that love is mostly the possible reason why God created man and the world in general. Because of His infinite love, God created man to spread His goodness and love. He also says that God created the world so that the world and humanity knows Him, loves Him, serves Him, praises and glorifies Him.

For God so loved the world.....in this is love not that we loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be a propitiation (an atoning sacrifice) for our sins. (1 John 4:10)

Are we alone?  For thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens,Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain,Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is  no other.

This earth that God created to have everything we see, hear, taste and smell was spoken out by the Only God--Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Is there a God?  Scripture not only tells there is a God, but that everyone knows there is "because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clerly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse...."(Romans 1:18-32)

In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God .

God who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,  has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.  And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. (hold together)  John 1:1, Heb. 1:1-2; Col. 1:15-17)

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. (2 Cor. 13:14)

Why do we die?   Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned....(Rom. 5:12)

the lack of faith, of the human race federal heads and representatives, who believed the lie of the evil one, that they would not die if they ate from the tree in the midst of the garden, when God told them they would die. God, who can not lie, subjected all of creation to futility. (vanity, failure, meaningless, hopelessness)   (Rom. 8:20)

but God's promise of a redeemer in Gen. 3:15 showed forth God's love and grace ....

And I will put enmity

Between you and the woman,

And between your seed and her Seed;

He shall bruise your head, (the plans of satan would be crushed and defeated)

And you shall bruise His heel.” (the cross of Christ's suffering and death)

Job, understood this and in his book proclaimed the following:

For I know that my Redeemer lives,

And He shall stand at last on the earth;

And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,

That in my flesh I shall see God,

Whom I shall see for myself,

And my eyes shall behold, and not another.

How my heart yearns within me!  (Job 19:25-27)

God has provided a way out of our miserable predictament. Jesus the Christ truly is our "Blessed Hope." He came, lived a perfect life, of which none of us could ever do, and gave himself a ransom for many ( Mark 8:31) and  that if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Ro. 10:9)

Saved from the consumming fire of God (Heb. 12:28-29) and given eternal life (John 3:16-17) and a kingdom in the new heavens and new earth where righteousness dwells. (Rev. 21:1-8; Rev. 22:1-5)

Death is not the end. For those born again,  who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. These have the right to be called children of God, with a citizenship in heaven by which we eagerly await for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself. (John 1:12-13; Phil 3:20-21)

Jesus Christ Is the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Him. If you have believed, if you trust and obey you are blessed indeed. Your future secured, you have an inheritance incorruptible undefiled and that shall not pass away, awaiting your arrival,  given by grace through faith  by the only name under heaven by which anyone can be saved.

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,  teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,  looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,  who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. (Titus 2:13-14)
