Old Testament Prophecy / New Testament Reality

Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? (Is 53:1)

"there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. The angel said to them, "Listen! Do not fear. For I bring you good news of great joy, which will be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. the shepherds said to each other, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us." (Luke 2:10-11)

For he grew up before Him as a tender plant and as a root out of a dry ground. He has no form or majesty that we should look upon him nor appearance that we should desire him.(Is. 53:2)

When the days of her (Mary's) purification according to the Law of Moses were completed, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord (as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male shall be called holy to the Lord") and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord, "a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons." (Luke 2:22-24)

If he cannot afford an animal, then he shall bring for his guilt offering, on account of the sin that he committed, two turtledoves or two pigeons to the Lord, one for a sin offering and one for a burnt offering. (Old Testment Law Lev. 5:6-7)
And we hid, as it were, our faces from him; he was despised, and we did not esteem him.(Is.53:3)

But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. The governor answered and said to them, "Which of the two do you want me to release to you?"They said, "Barabbas!" Pilate said to them, "What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?"They all said to him, "Let Him be crucified!" (Matt. 27:20-22)

Surely he has borne our grief, an carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. Is 53:4)

Then the governor said, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they cried out all the more, saying, "Let Him be crucified!"(Matt 27;23)

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and by his stripes we are healed. (Is. 53:5)

Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, "Listen, this Child is destined to cause the fall and rising of many in Israel and to be a sign which will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. And a sword will pierce through your own soul also."( Luke 2:34-35)

All of us like sheep have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way, but the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Is 53:6)

Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. (John 17:1-5)

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he was brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. (Is 53: 7)

Now Jesus stood before the governor. And the governor asked Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?"Jesus said to him, "It is as you say." And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing. Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?" But He answered him not one word, so that the governor marveled greatly. (Matt 27:11-14)

By oppression and judgment he was taken away, and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken. (Is. 53:8)

So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him. And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe. Then they said, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they struck Him with their hands. Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, (John 19:1-3; Matt 27:35)

His grave was assigned with the wicked, yet with the rich in his death ....(Is. 53:9)

Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed. And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.(Matt 27:57-61)

because he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. (Is. 53:9)

You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God." (John 8:44-47)

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; He has put him to grief. When you make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the good pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.(Is. 53:10)

(Jesus said) For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:38-40)

He shall see of the anguish of his soul and be satisfied.... (Is 53:11)

Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" (Matt. 27:45-46)

By his knowledge My righteous servant shall justify the many, for he shall bear their iniquities.(Is. 53:11)

Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him." (John 8:28-29)

Therefore, I will divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death, (Is. 53:12)

Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, "Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ " Having said this, He breathed His last. (John 23:44-46)

and he was numbered with the transgressors, (Is. 53:12)

There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death. And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (Luke 23:32-34)

thus he bore the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors. (Is. 53:12)

After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), "I thirst." A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (John 19:28-30)

13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. (John 3:13)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.(John 1:1-4)

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.. (John 1:1-4;14)

17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:17)

Remember when you see that babe in the manger at Christmas
you are gazing at the only name under heaven by which anyone can be saved, by His shed blood at Calvary's Cross.

For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness (Heb. 9:22) NT

For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul. (Lev 17:11)OT

The First Thanksgiving

"MOURT’S RELATION" written by Pilgrim Governor Edward Winslow, 1621

our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling, that so we might after a special manner rejoice together, after we had gathered the fruits of our labors; they four in one day killed as much fowl, as with a little help beside, served the Company almost a week, at which time amongst other Recreations, we exercised our Arms, many of the Indians coming amongst us, and amongst the rest their greatest king Massasoit, with some ninety men, whom for three days we entertained and feasted, and they went out and killed five Deer, which they brought to the Plantation and bestowed on our Governor, and upon the Captain and others. And although it be not always so plentiful, as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so far from want, that we often wish you partakers of our plenty."

Who Are You?

WHO ARE YOU?

Being an old rock and roller I remember this song indeed from British rockers "The Who". Now I pose the question to all of us. "Who Are You.?" Who are we race of humans that inhabit this seemingly insignificant speck in this vast space called the universe. Why is there anything when in reality there should be nothing.

Thus says the Lord,I have made the earth,And created man on it.For thus says the Lord,Who created the heavens,Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it,Who has established it,Who did not create it in vain,Who formed it to be inhabited:"I am the Lord, and there is no other. (Is. 45:18)

Mankind has forgotten its beginnings.

The first humans had God walking with them, communicating with them, providing for them everything they needed, but another wanted them to worship him. An angel so enamored with his own beauty and power, an angel cast out of heaven by God, angered by God's creating and loving them, wanting to thwart God's plan, tempted with lies contradicting God's Word, and mankind believed those lies, and thus all creation was subjected to futility by God, and thus we have death and all the confusion that besets mankind today.

To fill that void, mankind has raised up false gods and goddesses to fill that vacant abyss that longs for, that craves meaning to what seems a meaningless and hopeless existence.

Technology has replaced God, as the deity we embrace for knowledge and meaning.

"But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase." (Dan. 12:4)

But our technology is fragile and could be eradicated in just a moment. Our entire society, everything just bytes without substance holding our very lives on hard drives, sd cards, and flash drives. Our work place, our home, trucking, railroads, shipping, air transport provides real sustenance for life itself--food--drink--banking by which our monetary system functions, the power grid, that provides electricity by which everything else operates. All of it, could be gone in an instant.

God , the only real and true God, in the beginning, spoke out creation and it came to be. For before there was anything  there was absolute nothingness. The blackness of darkness. A darkness so profound and complete our human minds can not comprehend it.

"By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." (Heb. 11:3)

No subatomic participles, no atoms, protons, neutrons, no nothing existed until God spoke it out.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Then God said,"
God has not left us without hope...

" In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men." (John 1:1-4)

"All of us have inherited a sin nature passed down through generations by the transgression of our first parents and representive heads.....Adam and Eve...

"all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..." (romans 3:23)

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."(2 Cor 4:4)

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit," (1 Peter 3:18)

"For without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness"(Hebrews 9:22)

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,"( 1 Peter 3:18)

There is hope, a blessed hope, provided by God, as Jesus the Christ said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except by me...."(John 14:6)

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." (2 Cor. 5:17)

Jesus The Christ, The First and The Last, The Alpha and Omega

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Then God said...

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

for without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness....

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel....that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures...

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

"There is no one righteous, not even one;

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast...

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

You spent enough time in the past doing what unbelievers like to do. You were promiscuous,(sexually immoral) had sinful desires, got drunk, went to wild parties, and took part in the forbidden worship of false gods. Unbelievers insult you now because they are surprised that you no longer join them in the same excesses of wild living. They will give an account to the one who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

A Birthday Thought

Another year has come and gone. Today the second year of my 7th decade begins.

To God who gave me not only physical life so many years ago. And a renewed spiritual life 42 years later.  To Him I owe it all. I am blessed beyond my deepest thoughts.

To my mother and father who raised me and taught me right from wrong. The meaning of a dollar. The value of respect. The freedom to choose my career, my life. Who didn't really understand but supported me in all my endeavors. Thank you.

I was far from perfect, I used to follow the course of this world, the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who works in the sons of disobedience. I was BY Nature a child of God's wrath. For there is a way that seems right to a person, but it's way is death. (Eph 2;)

God's Laws , His Commandments mean something. His Word still stands. Wickedness, evil, sin over powers the hearts of the profane. And without Jesus Christ all is hopeless...all is lost. The unregenerate HATE the God of Scripture. And many Christians, so-called--portray God--as a genie in a lamp at their beck and call for health, wealth, a trouble free exsistence.

Yet Jesus Himself said,"in this life you will have tribulation but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

And Paul the Apostle of Christ himself said, 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. (2 Tim 3:12)

Without Christ there is no hope. Only dishonor (disgrace) without value, worthless in the sight of God. (all our righteous acts are as filthy rags Is. 64:6).

To the ones who have been brought from death to life and from darkness to light by the grace of God through faith and not of themselves.... But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:13-14)

Those who have repented, confessed , cried out to God, and proclaimed" "Have mercy on me, a sinner." To those born again, Jesus transfers. His perfection... (we are repositioned before God as righteous not that we ourselves are righteous, but when God the Father sees us He sees His Son)... we are declared as honorable, of value and worth, to stand in His presence. The blood of Christ (God's anointed One) cleanses...the blood of Jesus (The Savior) covers.

"Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."( Jude 24-25)

Sin permeates every sinew of our being. Nothing we do can ingratiate us to God. (Is. 64:6) Only His regenerating gift to believe in the only name under heaven by which we can be saved, accomplished, and continues to accomplish God's plan for the redemption of His people.

God said "Life is in the blood." Therefore a spiritual blood transfusion was necessary. His righteousness poured out to wash us clean of our unrighteousness. His obedience for our disobedience. His perfection for our imperfection.

How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?(Heb 9:14)

For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven.(Col 1:19-20)

But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. (Eph. 2:13)

He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead." (Acts 17:31)

In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. (Heb. 9:22)

There is a problem with the human race. That problem is our rebellion, our hatred, our disdain for the God of the Bible. " Because the carnal mind is enmity (hatred) against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God."(Romans 8:7-8)

Every other god, idol, idea is OK. All are one. All roads lead to God. That is a lie straight from the lowest depths of the pit. And mankind is quick to accept and embrace that thought. Why?

"The god of this age(The devil-satan-serpent of old)  has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.' (2 Cor 4:4)

Where will you spend eternity?

As I enter into another year this day, I realize that this is not my home. My citizenship is in heaven. It is a promise from God Himself. He has prepared a place for me. It wasn't anything I did or will ever do. I simply cried out to God and he brought me from the pit, the miry clay, hopelessness and depair, and set my feet upon a Rock and that Rock was/is Christ.

There is no other way. It's not me that says that, it is the Word of God Himself.

"This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" (2 Peter 1:17)

I will leave you with Jesus the Christ's own words to Peter...

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets." "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. (Matt 16:13-17)

May you likewise be Blessed.

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, "Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:9-13)

A Prayer

A Prayer

Heavenly Father, God of all creation, the One who spoke out all things and they came to be, Holy,Holy,Holy Lord God Almighty, who is , who was and is the come. We bow out heads and and hearts before your Holiness, that in your Divine wisdom, your Divine love , you have allowed us to come before the throne of Grace and find Mercy.

We do this through the One in whom you were always well pleased, Your One and Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life. He willingly left the throne of the heavenly kingdom, the Divine who was in the beginning with God and was God, tabernacled in a body of flesh, and blood and bones--the God/man-- for only God in His Holy, Righteous perfection could pay the sin debt. No other sacrifice exceptable for one to enter into the Kingdom of God, in eternity.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is no flesh and blood, no child of Adam in and of themselves capable of obeying God perfectly. And as Jesus, the very Son of God said, "you must be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect," to gain entrance into that kingdom.
That is why Christ Jesus came, lived a perfect life, fulfilled the law and the prophets, endured hardship, persecution and finally hung on that tree, pouring our His own blood, the passover lamb of God who took away the sin of the world. That those who put their faith and trust in Him, and Him alone, might recieve eternal life, a place at the table, fellowship with the God who spoke out creation and promised that all who honor His Son Honor God the Father.
Dear heavenly Father, pierce through the cold, hard, dead hearts of those who deny you and walk according the to their own evil hearts. Deliver those blinded by the god of this age, the prince of the power of air, the spirit who works in the hearts of the sons of disobedience, whose destiny is destruction, who set their minds on earthy things. For the world and all its desires, the lust of the flesh, man's cravings and all of man's boasting of what they say and do are but dust.
All of us, every single human being must stand before the judgement seat of Christ. For God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom He has ordained. He has assured all of this by raising Jesus the promised Messiah, The Christ from the dead.

He paid the sin debt every single human being owes to God. His is the only name under heaven by which we can be saved. Saved from an eternity separated from God. An eternity of weeping and gnashing of teeth.

"these will go away into everlasting punishment..." (Matt. 25:46)

Weeping--because in eternity they will know they had an opporunity to come to the glorious Hope of resurrection to new life and bliss that awaits the redeemed. But they denied the Glory and Majesty, the sacrifice, the poured out blood from an old rugged cross, that reveals to us all the hopelessness of sin

These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, (2 Thess 2 1:9)

Gnashing of teeth--for in eternity, those who heard and rejected God's gift of LOVE to a lost and dying world, will curse God forever, given over to their own evil hearts and the natural hatred they have toward God. Grace withdrawn, their separation complete, the fullness of that sinful Adamic nature loosed, with an unending disdain and anger toward a loving and caring God who so loved that world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.

"but the righteous into eternal life....." (Matt 25:46)

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. (1 Peter 3:18)

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.(2 Cor 5:21)
